school's new site word: my!

Submitted by William on Thu, 10/15/2009 - 4:16pm

Chapter 1
School's new site word is "my"! Now we have three site words: my, the, and a.

Chapter 2
"My" is a good site word. I love that word. And Mrs. Gray, my teacher, putted "my" up to some objects and we had to say, "My eraser, my marker, my teapot, my (whatever you can think of)." Like "my head" or "my umbrella" or "my forehead" or "my hand" or "my finger" or "my fingernail" or "my mom" or "my baby sister" or "my dad" or "my brother" or "my dinosaurs" or "my house" or "my Wii" or "my voice" or "my hair" or "my picture" or "my camera."

Chapter 3
I have fun at kindergarten. We do all sorts of fun stuff. There we have friends, and me and Kaden are second cousins because Mom and Kaden's dad were first cousins. And me and me are friends. Do you know why me and me are friends? Because there's another William in my class. The other William's name is William N.

Chapter 4
Like I was just telling Mom, if Mrs. Gray gets our blog, she'll say, "Wow, there's a lot of our site words on here! And even ones we don't have yet! And even some other grade ones!"

The end. All of those chapters are true.

snowy day hurray!

Belle was very excited about the first snow

Chapter 1
I went outside when it was snowy in my pajamas with my snowpants on and coat and my spiderman boots.

Chapter 2
When I got outside, I ran out into the grass and made a snowball and threw it at Mom! And then Jake, Sophie, and Chloe were here. Then Emily came. And then they were joining my snowball fight. Everyone was throwing snowballs at everyone else. And Jake and me were throwing snowballs at the house! Then I showed Jake and Emily me-throwing-a-snowball-at-the-window!

Chapter 3
Eliana started to say "bye-bye" and Mom didn't know if she meant she was going to go bye-bye. And I thought she said, "Bye-bye snowballs." And Mom didn't know if she was saying "bye-bye" meaning she thought the kids were going bye-bye. But she goed inside. And I stayed outside for a little bit.

Chapter 4
I played with Jake in the backyard when we were throwing snowballs. And when I got in the backyard, I made a snow angel! And then I said, "Jake, Chloe, look what I made!" So they came over and they said, "Wow! How do you make that snow angel?"

Chapter 5
And then after a little while I went inside.

I'm a helper

Submitted by Eliana on Thu, 10/08/2009 - 10:57am

Over the past few months, I've really become interested in helping out. You may have seen pictures of me washing tables. I did a great job helping Mommy wipe up the water I sprinkled all over the table today. I have been throwing things in the garbage for a long time. I usually only put things in, but that time that I took out a kleenex and blew my nose with it convinced my parents that they should still keep the lock on the door. Even though I can get it open by myself, they can hear me banging the door in the process so they get a little warning. I help Mommy with laundry by putting the wet clothes in the dryer. And I love to brush the kitty and scoop fresh litter for Mommy to put in the litter box. She won't let me put it in there, though. I'm such a big and helpful girl. My latest self-appointed chore is bringing Mommy her coffee cup when she leaves it on a table that is within my reach. I know how much she likes her coffee. I made it halfway up the stairs with her New York City mug this morning before she stopped me and got some paper towels to help me clean up the spills. I did a really great job carrying that mug until I got to the steps. They are so tricky!

Thanks for all the help, Ellie! She spent about a half hour helping me pick beans out of their dried pods then putting the dried beans in a cup and the pods in a pile. I couldn't believe how well she was able to tear the pods open, pull out the beans, then sorting the pods from the beans.

trick racing getting a tiMEOUT

Chapter 1
On Trick Racing I missed the red bar (they don't let you miss the red bar, but they let you miss the other bars) and I was racing Dad's profile on Crystal Cup Nebula on Super Excite. And I got sent to my room by Mom because I got a fit about missing the red bar. Do you know why Trick Racing got a time out? Because I kicked Mom and hitted Mom. The end. That's a true story.

Chapter 2
After I rested in my room for a little bit, I apologized to Mom for kicking and hitting her. Then I slept to when the big hand got to the eleven and then I could get up. I was awake in my bed for a long time and then I goed to sleep. And then the big hand goed really fast to the eleven!

Chapter 3
The big hand got to the eleven and I got up. And I played with some things that I thought weren't very fun. And they were magnet car-building blocks. The end. All those chapters are true.

Going to Nelson Farm, Having a new baby cousin, and Going to the dentist

What a handsome smile

Contents:
1 Going to Nelson Farm
2 Having a New Cousin Jack David Lanz
3 Going to the Dentist

Chapter 1
Last week I went to Nelson Farm because I had a field trip. And I saw some animals, farm animals. And I got a turn to swing on a rope. My teacher said, "One, two, three, JUMP OFF!" And when she said "three," I jumped off the rope. I landed in the hay! Do you know why they put hay down there instead of concrete? Because they wanted me to not get hurt! I got to pet a cow.

Chapter 2
Yesterday, when we were out of the car at Target and we were going to the door, Adam called my mom and he said I had a new baby cousin, Jack David Lanz. Isn't that funny!?! My middle name is David, too!

Chapter 3
Today I went to the dentist and got five fillings. The dentist sang a song while he was getting my fillings in. I didn't hear him singing because he was singing so quiet. And he always says I have "groovy teeth" that's why I got cavities.

All those chapters are true.

I helped William insert a timeline into his chapters and made a few suggestions for this post. We didn't want to miss anything. What an exciting week we've had! I started back to school last week, too, so it's been busy. We were excited to get Adam's call about the new baby. Jack was just a little squirt at 4lbs 6oz. I'm sure he'll catch up quickly now that he's born. We hear he's doing great and wish we were closer so we could meet him.

My First Day of School

Submitted by Eliana on Mon, 09/21/2009 - 11:53pm

Sweet girl

It was my turn to start school today! I've actually been spending quite a bit of time there with Mommy, so it was different to have a bunch of other little kids in the room today. It was fun to feed them pretend food in the kitchen, climb together on the climber, and splash each other with water in the sensory table. It was also different getting used to the routine. I kept thinking it was time to go home every time we switched to a different part of class. The first time we cleaned up, I ran to the door. But we didn't leave! We went to sit in the circle and sing songs. We even sang "Two Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed" and I already knew the actions! Then we had bananas for snack, which I enjoyed squishing and then sprinkling with water. After snack was over, it still wasn't time to go! We got to play more while the parents talked. And when we cleaned up again, it wasn't even time to go yet! We sat in a circle again to sing goodbye to our friends. By then I didn't really want to go, so Mommy and I were the last ones to leave.

In the morning, we get to go to Toddler Time at the library again. My favorite thing about the library last week was all the new babies! When I see them, I always say "cute!" I like to touch their little toes, rock them in their car seats, and mostly just stare at them. But the bigger kids, like me, sing songs and listen to stories and that's fun, too. Last week we got to play with scarves. I had fun playing peek-a-boo with them and throwing them. They were very soft. I wonder what we'll do tomorrow.

New Family Pictures!

How do we look?

Running back for the next picture

We finally took some new family pictures today! We've been meaning to replace our family picture for... oh.... over a year. You've seen last year's picture - the one where Eliana isn't even looking at the camera. Well, we got a very similar one this year, but we're all a little older and we're all looking and even smiling! It was very fun taking this year's shots. We always go to Munsinger Gardens and use the tripod and the timer, but this year was different because I'm the only one who stayed sitting! Everyone else ran into the picture :) That worked wonders for getting smiles on the kids' faces! As soon as the flash went off, they would run over to the camera to see the picture. But half the time Eliana wouldn't stay long enough to see. She was already running back to sit on Mom's lap for the next picture. What a blast! We got a few cute photos of the kids, too. Check 'em out!

My take on school

Submitted by Eliana on Thu, 09/03/2009 - 10:42pm

I got to play with Ivy the last two mornings while Mommy and William were at their schools. She got to feed me breakfast and then we had lots of fun playing in my room and outside. We had lots of fun!

Soon I will start school, too! I will be in a one-year-old class with Mommy on Monday mornings. Daddy brought me to see my classroom during Open House last night. And guess who was there? Mommy! She teaches in my room for two of her five classes, so she was in there for open house. There's a cool climbing gym right in the room, so I think school will be pretty fun!

You might have heard that I was sick a little bit ago. It was kind of scary because I had a lot of trouble breathing, so the doctor gave me medicine that I had to breathe in this funny elephant mask. It was kind of cool at first and then I got tired of having to sit there all the time. But Mom made me, so I realized it was better to give up fighting, watch my Baby Einstein movie and wait until the medicine was gone. And that made it go so much quicker!

It also might have taught me to like tv because I sat with my blankie and watched almost an entire episode of Dora this week while Mommy was doing the breakfast dishes. She couldn't believe it! I think I might like having my brother in school because I'll get to watch my own cartoons. But I do miss him when he's gone and I am excited when it's time to go pick him up.

She ate the whole thing!

I was also excited to have corn on the cob for dinner again tonight. Last week we got some from the farmer's market and I devoured the whole cob all by myself like a big girl. This week I was ready to climb in the hot pot and grab a cob for myself, I just couldn't wait to get my hands on that corn!

I would love to tell you all the new words I say. There are a lot of them. But I usually only say them once and never again for a long time. So I hear a lot of, "Did you really say...?" I've never been much into performance, so you won't catch me repeating things on command or anything like that. I'm sure it won't be long and I'll be talking your ear off, just wait!
