Sleepover at Grandma's House!

Submitted by William on Thu, 06/16/2005 - 12:02am

Mom and Dad celebrated their 8th anniversary yesterday. To celebrate they sent me to Grandma Lanz's to spend the night. I always like to go there. There are lots of kids to watch playing. Then in the morning Grandma McKeever came and spoiled me for the day. I'm lucky to have two Grandmas who love me so much!

My puppy Belle slept at Grandma Lanz's TWO nights. She said "woof" a lot when she was there. Mommy and Daddy always tell her "no" when she says that, so I think she's in trouble. Maybe when she wakes up. She's too tired to even come eat the beans that I throw on the floor for her.

I have a bad cold. I didn't sleep very well at Grandma's house. It's hard to breathe when my nose is so stuffy. Hopefully I'll feel better soon. I think Mommy and Daddy were happy to be on vacation that night.

I got my 6th tooth while Mommy and Daddy were gone! It's the second one on the left. The matching one should be here soon, too. Mommy was glad that it was just tooth #6 and nothing more exciting that she missed.

I've been walking around pushing my toys and starting to stand a little bit with no hands, but that's a little too scary. I always sit right down. When we were at the hotel pool with the Sobiechs, Mommy would let go of me and I had to stand up otherwise I'd go underwater. But it's okay because I have a certificate of completion for my first swimming lessons so I'm not afraid!

9 months old!

Submitted by William on Fri, 05/20/2005 - 12:13pm

I'm 9 months old today! Mommy and I went to visit the doctor this morning. Dr. Hicks is a really nice doctor. He checked me all out and said I'm growing and developing nicely. He even asked me to sign "more" and I did. Everyone was very proud of me! He also got to see those three top teeth that are ready to come through any second now. Boy do they bug me! When the nurse weighed and measured me I was exactly 23 pounds and 30 inches. That's the 80th and 90th percentiles, so the doctor says I'm very well proportioned. This is the second time I came down a little bit in the percentiles, which the doctor said I can afford.

Right now I'm supposed to be taking a nap, but Uncle Michael just came over to play so I don't want to sleep now! But no matter how many times I stand up and holler in my bed, Mommy just keeps laying me back down! Sigh! I guess I may as well go to sleep. Goodnight!

Happy Mothers' Day!

Submitted by William on Sun, 05/08/2005 - 11:57pm

Today was my mom's and my first Mothers' Day! Daddy and I got her a new scale so she can really tell how big I am getting. It said I weighed exactly 23 pounds today! I'm also getting really tall. According to Mommy's tape measure she thinks I'm about 30 1/2 inches, but we'll see for sure in a couple weeks when I go in for my 9 month well check. They tell me this time I won't get any shots!

We had Grandma and Grandpa McKeever over for brunch with Dawn, Nathan and Tiernan. Daddy made pancakes. I heard they were really good, but I was napping while everyone ate. I helped Daddy get everything ready, though, while Mommy slept in. She likes to sleep. When I woke up from my nap I showed off all my tricks. I can tell you what a fish says, what a kitty says, and I can puff & blow like the cow in my "Baby Einstein, Mirror Me" book. I am also getting good at walking when I'm holding onto Mommy's hands. I crawl everywhere, even up the steps. Well, okay, only one step because then it gets a little scary and I need help getting down. But I stand up next to furniture now. I can get all sorts of stuff that I couldn't before like coasters, dirt from Daddy's plants, remote controls, and magazines. It's fun!

After my second nap we went to my Great-grandma Webers and hung out with that crowd. It was nice and warm out so I got to play in the grass in just a t-shirt! There were lots of people (32 people by my count) to play with and show my tricks. But I don't like showing my tricks to just anybody because sometimes I'm shy. I like to get to know people first. One thing I know is that all those people are noisy! They sat down to eat dinner in the garage and it kept getting louder and louder. I had to talk really loud, too, so Mommy could hear that I wanted to get out of my chair. But there was lots to look at, so when Mommy snuggled me in Grandma Lanz's stroller in my jammas with a blanket and my pacifier, I liked watching everybody.

But it was a busy day and I'm tired! Yawn! Maybe I'll sleep all night tonight... or not.

Crawling and Biting!

Submitted by William on Sat, 04/16/2005 - 11:27pm

It's sure been fun lately! Here's a list of all the new things that have happened since the last time I wrote:

April 4th - I started rocking back and forth on my hands and knees.

April 5th - I pulled myself up to kneeling by my toy box.

April 6th - I got tooth #1 on the bottom right.

April 7th - I said DADA! (Finally - Daddy was happy!)

April 8th - Mommy taught me to throw Belle's toy instead of sticking it in my mouth every time.

April 9th - I went to my 2nd swimming lesson and I learned to sit myself up from laying on my tummy.

April 10th - I figured out how to clap my hands.

April 11th - Daddy saw me crawl a few "steps."

April 12th - I played pat-a-cake for the first time.

April 13th - I practiced all my new skills.

April 14th - I took off crawling across the room and haven't stopped since!

April 15th - I got tooth #2 on the bottom left.

April 16th - I waved bye-bye to Grandma and Grandpa McKeever.

What will I learn tomorrow? Maybe Mommy will come in to see me standing in my crib! You'll have to find out next time!

It's Spring!

The weather is getting warm and we're sitting out on our deck right now playing. Mommy and Daddy are going to have to put a baby gate up here for me pretty soon because I'm almost ready to crawl away. I can already get over to the laptop cords, so they're always moving me away from those.

Last week I was at Grandma Lanz's house all week while Mommy was subbing in 2nd grade. It would have been a lot more fun if I didn't have such a bad cold. Grandma takes good care of me, though, so I liked going there. We got to play outside one day before I got sick and that was fun.

Hopefully my second cousin Kayden didn't catch my cold when we were sharing toys on Easter at my Great-aunt Lynn's. We had a great time! My mommy helped me find an egg during the Easter egg hunt even though everybody said I'd have to wait until next year because I'm too little to walk yet. But Isaac can find eggs and he's in college, so I think it's fair.

We also went to my Great-grandma Weber's house on Easter. It was very busy there. Great-aunt Maggie read me my favorite stories. Emma shared her Fruit Puffs with me - yummy! And I liked hearing Seth say "William." I think he liked saying it, too.

Seth and I also went to the zoo together! Well, with our mommies, too. And Andy came with his mommy and Reina with hers. It was fun to see all those kids! I guess there were some animals there, too. But I mostly saw lots and lots of kids. It was fun!

I had fun visiting with Xander again, too. Mommy and I went to her friend Linda's house to see Xander and his mommy. Linda has two really nice dogs, Boca and Caliph, and two kitties - just like me. Her dogs are even bigger than Belle!

Well, I'd better go take a nap now. All this fresh air is wearing me out. Thanks for reading my weblog. Yawn!

The Relatives Came

Submitted by William on Sun, 03/06/2005 - 10:44pm

This weekend was a lot of fun for me! I got lots of attention from all the relatives who came to Ferry Point to see the Sobiechs one last time before they leave for "Arkan-sauce," as Uncle Kim says. I'm not the youngest of the cousins anymore because cousin Tiernan was there and he was only 10 days old, but everyone still wanted to hold me so that's okay. All those unfamiliar people were a little scary at first, but they just wanted to give me kisses and have me put my fingers in their mouth, so pretty soon I was having a lot of fun. There were lots of kids running around. Cousin Faith is learning to walk, Abi is getting very tall, Megan and Taya came all the way from Warroad with their mom, Tera and Grandma Carol. It was a busy house. I even got to meet Great-uncle Kim for the first time!

Then on Sunday we met Great-aunt Carol, Tera and the girls at their hotel for a swim! I'd never been in a swimming pool before. The water was chilly at first and I kept shivering. But it was fun to swim around and pretty soon I wasn't cold anymore. I got to swim with Daddy and Mommy and Daddy again. And cousin Abi was swimming with her daddy too. Faith didn't really like the pool, but Megan swam a lot and Taya got in for a little bit too. The water tasted a little funny. One time it even went up over my face, but I didn't mind. I would have liked to swim longer if I wasn't so tired. But it was way past my nap time. I hope I can swim again sometime soon!

Happy Birthday, Tiernan!

Submitted by William on Wed, 02/23/2005 - 11:33pm

My cousin was born today! His name is Tiernan Thomas. His parents are my daddy's sister Dawn and her husband Nathan. They're very proud of their little baby and glad that he's finally here. Tiernan was 7 pounds, 3 ounces and 21 inches long. He was born at home in the water. He's already a swimmer! It was okay going to see him, but all he did was sleep. I had the most fun listening to Auntie Dawn tell the story of his birth and playing with Uncle Nathan! But I know Tiernan and I will have lots of fun when he gets bigger!

6 Months

Submitted by William on Tue, 02/22/2005 - 12:41pm

Today was my 6 month visit with the doctor. I'm not growing quite as fast anymore. I'm only 21 pounds 6 ounces (95th percentile) and 28 inches (93rd percentile). So I was actually on the chart this time. But I am a big boy because I barely even cried for my shots. Mommy didn't even believe the nurses gave me the first one. The second one got a few tears though.

I got to experience my first Trivia Weekend right before Valentine's Day. It was a fun and busy time. There were lots of noisy people at Grandma and Grandpa Lanz's. I cheered on the team saying "Rrrrrr," the sound a Pull-start Diesel makes. I wished I could've told them all the answers I knew... if only I could talk. Then I know the team would have won! But they had their best year yet, so I guess they'll just have to wait to win until I get bigger.

I also got to visit my friend Holden since the last time I wrote. With me and Mommy being sick, and then our trip to Denver, we didn't get a chance to meet him until he was almost 2 months old! It was fun to see him now, though, because I'm really starting to like babies. I couldn't take my eyes off of him when Mommy was trying to take our picture. I know we are going to be good friends!

Fabulous Firsts

Submitted by William on Wed, 01/26/2005 - 6:53pm

It's sure been an exciting month! It started out with a bad cold that came on after Christmas. Mommy and I both got pretty sick so we had to rest a lot.

I've been working on sitting up and now I don't need any help anymore. But it is nice when Mommy and Daddy put a pillow behind me when I'm sitting just in case I forget and fall backward. I don't like to bump my head.

Then all of a sudden Daddy found out he had to go to Denver for work and we were busy getting ready for a family vacation. I got to take my first plane ride. SunCountry is a great airline! The flight attendants are very nice. They bring you around the plane to look at the lights and the people. And they even fed my Mommy a hot sandwich, which was good for me too! Daddy flew Northwest and all he got was a bag of pretzels. Poor Daddy.

It was a lot of fun in Denver. While Daddy worked, Mommy and I walked around outside a lot. It was in the 60s and 70s with record highs while we were there so we spent lots of time on the 6th Street Mall downtown. One day was a little windy so we walked around the art museum. There was a lot of neat stuff to see. But the best part was meeting the Schmidts and the Webers who live there. All the kids were so big, I hope I can be as cool as them someday.

Our last morning in Denver when I woke up from my morning nap I actually rolled over from my front to my back on purpose for the first time! I felt almost as cool as those big kids!

When we got home I got my first taste of cereal. It didn't really taste that great, but it was a lot of fun. Eating is one of the things I like to do best.

I also like making raspberry noises and spitting all day. It keeps me very entertained. I'd love to show you sometime!

We had a merry Christmas!

Boy am I exhausted! Christmas is great! It's noisy and there are lots of McKeevers, Webers and Lanzs. I especially liked ripping that pretty paper off of the boxes. My cousin Abi helped me! I'm not feeling very well now though. I have a stuffy nose and itchy eyes. Hopefully I'll feel better soon and have lots of good things to report!
