Almost Christmastime!

Submitted by William on Thu, 12/22/2005 - 1:42pm

Here are some of the things we've been doing lately to get ready for Christmas:

* Making cookies! On Cookie Day at Great-grandma Weber's house I mostly watched and ate frosting.

* Shopping! I have gotten to play at the mall quite a few times lately. I like watching Santa's dancing bears and saying "Ho-ho-ho!" while Mommy drinks her coffee.

* Decorating! Our Christmas tree is full of ornaments, like Santas for saying "Ho-ho-ho" and stars for singing "Twinkle Twinkle." And I like playing hide and seek with the characters from the nativity set.

* Visiting! We went up north to visit Great-grandpa C. We sayed with Carroll and Carol. It was Carol's birthday, so there was a big party on Saturday with a lot of my second cousins.

* Partying! We had a holiday party at school on our last day before vacation. There were LOTS of snacks (my favorite time of the school day) and lots of parents with cameras, too.

* Playing in the snow! Today it's really warm out and the snow is melting. I'd better take my nap quick so I can go out and play when I wake up. Hopefully it won't all go away before Christmas!

Have a very merry Christmas!!!

I'm gonna have a new aunt!

Submitted by William on Sun, 12/04/2005 - 11:11pm

Yesterday my uncle Adam took Jennie on a walk out at St. Johns and asked her to marry him. She said "Yes!" So in August I will get a new aunt! It's very exciting!

I'm also excited to learn that I can have an opinion! I'm practicing expressing it a lot. Like when Mommy says we're going to go to the library so I should come get my coat on, then I back away and scrunch up my face like I don't want to do it. Instead I bring her my shoes! It's great fun to find out what I can and cannot do!

I learned that I am not supposed to pull the Christmas ornaments off the tree. Mommy and Daddy put it up yesterday. I think I wore out my "Wows" as the tree got taller and taller! And then it lit up!!! All of the ornaments were so very tempting, but I kept hearing "Don't touch, "Just look" and "Pretty." And then I heard Mommy say, "How many days until Christmas?" I guess she's excited for Santa, too!

One thing I am allowed to do is play out in the snow. Daddy's been shoveling a lot lately and I go out with him and Belle. We have a great time outside! And then I sleep really well. I was disappointed tonight when Daddy got all dressed up and only went out to the garage. I brought Mommy my shoes, but she said I couldn't be around all those sharp tools until I was bigger. I scrunched my face all up. I didn't like that one bit!

15 months!

Submitted by William on Tue, 11/22/2005 - 9:34pm

I had my 15-month checkup today. They tell me I won't need shots anymore until kindergarten... I hope that's true because it will probably take me until then to forgive them! As soon as I see those paper covered tables, I start getting nervous. The nurse weighed and measured me. I was 27 pounds and 33 1/2 inches. That's 80% for weight and 97% for height, about the same as the last few visits.

In other news, Grandma Lanz gave me my first haircut! The buzzer feels nice on my head. And now I look much more grown up. One of the moms at school didn't even recognize me from the back!

Bye Bye Tasia!

Submitted by William on Tue, 11/08/2005 - 11:10pm

Today I said bye-bye to my kitty, Tasia. Daddy took him to the vet because he wasn't feeling good or eating anything. He wasn't even purring anymore when he got attention. He was 13 years old. The vet said he wasn't making any red blood cells anymore and there wasn't anything she could do to make him better. So they kept him at the vet and put him to sleep. I'll miss Tasia. He was really soft and he was the first one to teach me how to say "Weow." Mommy and Daddy say he's feeling better now.

Happy Halloween!

Submitted by William on Thu, 11/03/2005 - 10:22pm

Boy, do I love Halloween! This week I've had more candy than I have in my entire life! I love it! My trick-or-treat bag is on top of the fridge and I point to it and sign "Please, please, please!" If I would've known how good all that candy was I wouldn't have tried to put it back in the bowls when people would give it to me. I thought I was just being helpful. Everyone thought I was really cute in the dog costume. One teenage boy even said I was, "The bomb!" It was nice of Tonya and Andy to lend the costume to us. I liked it a lot. It was fun saying "Woof!" but I was too shy to do it for the neighbors.

Mommy and I carved pumpkins on Halloween, too. There were lots of seeds and the insides were really slimy. I liked touching it and putting the guts in the bucket. Pumpkins taste good, too! And when they're carved they look neat with candles in them. When I saw that, I said, "WOW!"

I'm also really proud of my three new molars! I bite Mommy's finger when she tries to feel them. She says, "Ow, ow! Don't bite!" That makes me smile. The molars are great for brushing, and for eating candy!

Fantastic Fall!

Submitted by William on Mon, 10/17/2005 - 2:01pm

Wow! It’s been almost two months since I’ve written on here! That’s the longest stretch yet. I guess I’ve been having too much fun exploring and learning new words to think about sitting down at the computer. I just love getting into everything. There are always fun things to find around every corner and behind every door.

My favorite place to play is outside in the yard. I’m trying to take advantage of the beautiful weather every day before it gets too cold to be outside as much. I like throwing the ball for Belle (“ball” and “Belle” are two of my favorite words after “up”) and I like walking to the park. The other day we went to St. John’s to enjoy the fall leaves. I really wanted to go in the lake. That water looked so tempting!

When the weather is yucky, I enjoy going to the library. Now I’m good at going up and down the steps in the play area and Mommy doesn’t have to follow me around all the time. They have a lot of books there! It makes me say, “WOW!” Sometimes all the babies go with our moms to a different room where we sing songs and read stories. That’s fun too, but mostly I like the play room.

Another fun place to play is School. Mommy and I go every Monday. Well, not every Monday because I’ve been sick twice and we’ve only had five classes! It’s just bad luck, because I hadn’t been sick for such a long time! It’s fun at school. They have a lot of toys to play with and a bunch of other kids my age. The teachers are all very nice. Sometimes the moms sit and talk. I miss my mommy a little bit so I have to go get a hug once in a while, but then I miss the toys so I have to go play again.

Speaking of playing… I’ll talk to you later!

One-year doctor visit

Submitted by William on Tue, 08/23/2005 - 12:22pm

Today I saw the doctor for my one-year appointment. Officially I am 32 1/2 inches tall and 25 pounds 2 ounces. That would be above 95% for height and 80% for weight. I must've had a growth spurt! Those nasty nurses poked me in the legs again, which made me cry! But they had some cool bubbles, so I stopped crying, but I wouldn't smile for them anymore. That just was not nice! And another nurse squeezed all sorts of blood from my finger. That made me yell and cry for a long time. But she gave me a cool bandaid that my mom fished out of my mouth later.

Happy Birthday to ME!

Submitted by William on Sat, 08/20/2005 - 10:15pm

Today is my birthday and what a beautiful day for a party! It was in the 70s and sunny! Both sets of grandparents and even three great-grandparents were here! Auntie Dawn, Uncle Nathan, Tiernan and Uncle Joe and Uncle Michael came, too. We had the webcam on for the Arkansas clan for a while, but they had a power outage and missed all the good stuff. Like when everyone sang happy birthday to me and Michael helped blow out the candle. Then I got to eat my own chocolate birthday cake and get all messy! And there were lots of cards and presents to open. Then, of course, I had to play with everything. We all had lots of fun and Mom says to make sure I say "Thank You" to everyone for coming! And John and Leah don't have to worry, we have a video! I hear it's a lot like Daddy's first birthday video.

I should also say a little bit about our trip to Arkansas last week. I had a lot of fun playing with Abi and Faith and their new kitty, Jordan! I wish Arkansas wasn't so far away because I really missed them when I got home. The car ride wasn't bad at all, though. I got to eat snacks and watch lots more movies than I ever get to watch at home. We stopped and walked around at different places and ate in restaurants. In fact, I kind of miss the car, too! Good thing I got all those fun new toys to keep me busy now. Grandma McKeever even got me a piano just like the one at Abi and Faith's house! Thank you, Grandma! And thank you to Auntie Leah and Uncle John for letting us stay at your house. We had so much fun!

One other little bit of news... I got tooth number 8 just in time for my birthday! Finally, an even number!

It's August ALREADY!?!?

Submitted by William on Sat, 08/06/2005 - 6:11pm

Sorry I haven't written in so long. I haven't been thinking about getting on the computer with learning to walk and everything. I've really got it down now! I'm walking all over the place. Sometimes I fall, but I just get right back up and keep on going. Nothing can stop me!

It's not long until my first birthday! On August 20th we'll have a big party and have all the family over to celebrate. I hope everyone can come. They wouldn't want to miss me eating my birthday cake! I can't wait!

July News

Submitted by William on Sat, 07/02/2005 - 11:59pm

Hello everybody! It's been a while since I've written a new weblog entry, so I figured I'd better update you on how I'm doing.

Let's see... I have 7 teeth now, 4 top ones and 3 bottom ones.

I'm standing alone!

I've taken a couple wobbly steps, but I'm still not walking.

I love to push around my toys!

My new job is driving my car down to get the mail. I take it very seriously.

This week I've been pretending to talk on the phone a lot. I even say "hello" but it sounds more like "hey-O".

I hate having my diaper changed and roll like a crocodile when Mommy tries to get me to stay still.

It's fun to go to Beaver Lake. I like swimming and watching the boats. "Vrrroooom!" And there are lots of people to play with me.

I'm sure I'll have more to say after the 4th of July. My mom keeps promising me a lollipop at the Ferry Point parade. I hope she catches me one! We won't get to see Grandma and Grandpa there, though. They're in Alaska. It's a good thing, too, because last time I saw their house, it was a mess!
